About Hudson Valley Live
No recordings. No replays. No newsletter recaps. Just a room full of people who showed up.
How it started
Hudson Valley Live started with a simple frustration: work from home, algorithms, AI, SEO, main stream media, niche media, solitude, a sense of separation from our neighbors, the gnawing, persistent sense that we were surround by greatness, but dislocated from it.
We want to know each other and be known. We want privacy. We want laughter. We want eye contact. We want to be more than a click, more than "eyeballs." We want civil dialogue with people we disagree with. We want good music. We want tears. We want hope. We want consolation. We want to escape the algorithm. We want community.
The philosophy
We don't record our events. We don't stream them. We do not gamify. We do not enshitify. We don't post clips. If you weren't there, you missed it — and that's the point.
The internet has made it easy to consume everything and experience nothing. Hudson Valley Live is a deliberate correction. When you buy a ticket, you're not buying content. You're buying a night in a room with people who care about the same things you do—even if you disagree with them.
That's what community actually is. Not a feed. Not an echo-chamber. Not a group chat. A room.
No recordings
Every event is ephemeral. What happens in the room stays in the room — in the best possible sense.
No newsletters
We don't have a content strategy. We have events. Show up or miss out.
No gamification
We do not want you do click on things, scroll past things, be an impression or an eyeball. You are our neighbors
No enshitification
We do not market to you, subscribe you, trap you, then charge you more. You are a free human.
The mission
“To create the conditions for real conversation in the Hudson Valley — and to prove that showing up still matters.”
Who we are
Hudson Valley Live is a small operation run by people who live here. We're not a media company or a nonprofit or a startup. We're a group of neighbors who think the valley deserves better than what the algorithm offers.
Find an event near you and buy a ticket. That's all there is to it.
